The challenge
EMR Co., a retail business with 250 users on Azure, wanted to get more from Microsoft 365 and its data. It planned to adopt Office 365 E5, give 200 frontline users access to Copilot, and move its Power BI reporting to Microsoft Fabric. Once reporting was on Fabric, the team also wanted to use that data through Copilot.
- Office 365 E5 to adopt across a 250-user business
- 200 frontline users who needed access to Copilot
- Existing Power BI reporting to move to Microsoft Fabric without losing the reports the business relied on
- A wish to ask questions of Fabric data through Copilot, using a Fabric data agent
Our approach
- Design and architecture
We designed the end-to-end solution and its architecture: Office 365 E5, Copilot for frontline users, and a Microsoft Fabric platform for reporting.
- Adopt Office 365 E5 and Copilot
We rolled out Office 365 E5 across EMR Co. and gave 200 frontline users access to Microsoft 365 Copilot.
- Migrate reporting from Power BI to Fabric
We migrated EMR Co.'s reporting from Power BI to Microsoft Fabric.
- Connect a Fabric data agent to Copilot
Following the Power BI to Fabric migration, we integrated a Fabric data agent with Copilot in June 2026, so the team can ask questions of its Fabric data through Copilot.
The results
- EMR Co. runs on Office 365 E5, with Copilot available to 200 frontline users
- Reporting has moved from Power BI to Microsoft Fabric
- A Fabric data agent is integrated with Copilot, bringing the company's Fabric data into Copilot
- Designed, built and migrated end to end by ITCP
